Anthony Sopeña – Hitting and Defense Instructor /Speed Agility Trainer
Anthony Sopeña has spent his entire life in a baseball family. His Dad has been a College Coach for many years and played Minor League Ball for the Philadelphia Phillies. One of his brothers is a Scout for the St. Louis Cardinals and his younger brother also played Division 1 College Baseball. Anthony has spent many, hours on the baseball field, meeting both professional and semi-professional players, and players from different levels watching and learning the details of the game.
This environment has provided Anthony with a keen knowledge, passion and insight into the game of Baseball. He also had the privilege in High School while attending Notre Dame of playing on the 2004 State Championship Team.
He also received a baseball scholarship to Elgin Community College and qualified for the 2006 NJCAA DII World Series and finished 5th in the nation. Then he continued his education at Rockford College and played for the NAC Championship Team and NAC Tournament Champions as well.
The Philosophy that he feels works best is “use the whole field, foul pole to foul pole, become a gap to gap hitter”. Let the game situation and the pitch you are looking for determine your approach. Hit the ball as hard as you can. HITTERS AREN’T BORN, THEY ARE MADE THROUGH HARD WORK, DEDICATION, DETERMINATION, AND DESIRE.
He is a Certified Speed Agility Specialist and has trained several athletes and traveling baseball teams. He also served as an Apprentice for Jim Tyrrell, former New York Yankees Strength Conditioning Coaches. Anthony brings enthusiasm, passion, knowledge and first hand training to all those he works with.
